Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, Baseball stadium in downtown Atlanta, United States
Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was a sports facility in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, that hosted the Atlanta Braves baseball team. The structure had three tiers of blue wooden seating arranged in a circular layout around the playing field, with room for roughly 52,000 people.
The facility opened in 1965 after the Braves moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta. It remained the home ground for the team until 1996, when it was closed and later demolished.
Hank Aaron hit his record-breaking 715th career home run at this stadium on April 8, 1974, surpassing Babe Ruth's previous record.
The site no longer exists and has been replaced by a parking lot. A marker on the pavement still shows where Hank Aaron hit his famous home run on April 8, 1974.
Aaron hit his 715th home run in front of the home crowd, passing Babe Ruth's long-standing record. The ball landed in the bullpen beyond the left field wall and was caught by a member of the grounds crew.
