Robert W. Woodruff Library, Atlanta University Center, University research library in Atlanta, United States.
The Robert W. Woodruff Library serves four historically Black colleges and universities with more than one million items, including books, electronic resources, and government documents. The building functions as a shared research facility for all four institutions in the Atlanta University Center.
The building opened in 1982 and was named after a former Coca-Cola executive who significantly supported the project's funding. After two decades, it received a major renovation that modernized the infrastructure for the coming years.
The Archives Research Center displays collections focused on African American history and gives visitors direct access to important documents about the civil rights movement. The holdings allow you to follow the stories of people who shaped American society.
The building provides research consultations, shuttle services between the four campuses, and private study rooms for focused work. Access to digital collections is supported through partnerships with major library networks and enables remote research from anywhere.
The institution received a national award for excellence in academic libraries in 2016 as the first Black college and university library to do so. This recognition highlighted the quality of its collections and services that matter to students and researchers across the country.
