J. Mack Robinson College of Business Administration Building
J. Mack Robinson College of Business Administration Building, Bank building in Downtown Atlanta, Georgia
The J. Mack Robinson College of Business Administration Building is a 14-story structure at the intersection of Broad and Marietta streets in Atlanta's Fairlie-Poplar district. It combines university academic facilities with banking services, maintaining a Bank of America branch on its ground floor.
Built in 1901 as the Empire Building, it was Atlanta's first steel-frame structure and remained the city's tallest building until 1906. This construction marked a turning point in Atlanta's growth as a modern business center.
The building now houses Georgia State University's business school and shapes daily life in the Fairlie-Poplar district. Students and professionals move through its spaces regularly, creating a blend of academic activity and downtown business energy.
The building stands at 35 Broad Street NW and provides direct access from the downtown area. Visitors should keep in mind that the structure remains actively used throughout the day, so access to certain areas may be limited.
The structure appeared in the 2016 film 'The Founder', which tells the story of McDonald's expansion from Ray Kroc's perspective. This film connection makes it a location of interest for cinema enthusiasts and those curious about business history.
