Healey Building, Gothic Revival skyscraper in Fairlie-Poplar District, Atlanta, US
The Healey Building is a 16-story Gothic Revival tower on Forsyth Street NW in Atlanta's Fairlie-Poplar District. The ground floor holds retail spaces, while the upper floors are used as residential units.
Construction started in 1914 under architects Morgan & Dillon, making this Atlanta's last major skyscraper project before World War I. The war interrupted work before the full design could be realized.
The stonework on the facade features pointed arches and carved details that are easy to spot from the sidewalk. This style was unusual for office towers of the time and gives the building a character that stands out along Forsyth Street.
The building is easy to reach on foot from several nearby transit stops in downtown Atlanta. The ground-floor shops are open to the public, but the residential floors above are private and cannot be visited.
The original plan called for two towers linked by a rotunda, but only the western tower was ever built. The unfinished eastern half of the project exists today only in archival drawings.
