Rhodes-Haverty Building
Rhodes-Haverty Building, High-rise building on Peachtree Street, Atlanta, United States.
The Rhodes-Haverty Building is a 21-story high-rise in downtown Atlanta with Romanesque design elements and a distinctive stone exterior. The former office structure features dark stone cladding and geometric details that reflect its earlier purpose as an administrative center.
The structure was built in 1929 by furniture entrepreneurs Rhodes and Haverty and remained Atlanta's tallest building until 1954. Its construction marked a turning point in urban development and set new standards for office buildings in the region.
The building reflects Atlanta's business ambitions in the early 1900s and shows how local entrepreneurs transformed the city. It stands as a monument to the economic power of that era, drawing attention from pedestrians.
The building sits on Peachtree Street NW in the downtown area and is easy to reach on foot. Today it operates as a hotel, and the lobby is accessible to visitors who want to see the interior architecture.
The building was converted into a hotel relatively soon after completion and lost its original function as a pure office structure. This repurposing allowed it to make its interior space and architecture accessible to the public.
