Equitable Building, Commercial office building in downtown Atlanta, United States
The Equitable Building stands at 30 Edgewood Avenue SE with eight floors, four elevators, and 35.91 meters in height above street level.
Burnham and Root designed this structure in 1892, making it the tallest building outside the State Capitol in Atlanta until 1897.
The building represented the commercial development during the post-Civil War era, marking Atlanta's transformation into a major business center.
The structure remained operational until 1971, when demolition occurred to accommodate new urban development projects in the downtown area.
Joel Hurt, a streetcar magnate and influential figure in Atlanta's development, commissioned the construction of this commercial office building.
