Summerville Historic District, Historic district in Summerville, United States.

The Summerville Historic District contains 700 buildings spanning 607 acres, with raised cottages, Greek Revival structures, and Victorian houses throughout the area.

Established in 1847, the district developed from a pineland summer refuge for low country planters into a structured settlement after the railroad arrival in 1832.

The district features numerous architectural designs, including Queen Anne, Stick Eastlake, and Shingle Style buildings, reflecting different construction periods through the centuries.

Located between South Railroad Avenue, Magnolia Street, and Main Street, the district includes churches, commercial structures, and residential buildings from various periods.

The district gained recognition as a health destination in 1887, leading to its transformation into a winter resort for northern visitors until the 1930s Depression.
