San Francisco Chinese Hospital is a medical facility with 52 beds in Chinatown that includes surgical operating rooms, intensive care units, and an emergency treatment area. The eight-story building offers different wards and specialized treatment rooms for the local community, available around the clock.
The facility began in 1899 as Oriental Dispensary, a small clinic for Chinese immigrants who had no access to other medical services. After a fundraising effort within the community, the first full hospital building opened in 1925, expanding over the decades that followed.
