Demon, Steel roller coaster at Six Flags Great America, Illinois, US
Demon is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags Great America in northern Illinois. The track runs through two vertical loops and a pair of corkscrew inversions across roughly 649 meters (2,130 feet).
The coaster opened in 1976 under a different name and received a major redesign in 1980. That transformation added the current inversions and a darker color treatment.
The ride incorporates a special soundtrack called The Demon Song, which plays throughout the experience in the County Fair section.
Trains have six cars with two rows each, seating 24 riders in total. Sitting toward the front offers a more direct view of the inversions than rows further back.
Before climbing, trains pass through a lit tunnel with red lamps. The first drop after the hill then descends at roughly 54 degrees.
