Raging Bull, Steel roller coaster at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, US
Raging Bull is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, running along 1,541 meters (5,057 feet) of track and reaching 63 meters (208 feet) in height with speeds up to 117 kilometers per hour (73 mph). The ride features several turns and offers open views of the park during the journey.
The ride opened on May 1, 1999, as the second hypercoaster in the United States at that time. Bolliger & Mabillard developed the system with three trains and open seating cars.
The name comes from financial market terminology and suggests powerful movement. The station uses warm colors and motifs from the American Southwest.
Visitors must be at least 137 centimeters (54 inches) tall to board. On busy days it helps to arrive early or later in the afternoon for shorter wait times.
The first climb goes to 62 meters (202 feet) before the drop descends into a tunnel reaching 63 meters (208 feet) below the starting point. After the tunnel a series of hills creates moments where riders feel briefly airborne.
