Campbell High School, school in Campbell, Santa Clara County, California, United States
Campbell High School is a secondary school building in Santa Clara County that opened in 1900 as the district's first high school. The campus features a large auditorium built in 1938, now called the Heritage Theater, which continues to be used for performances and community events.
The school started in 1900 with just 35 students and two teachers in the second floor of Campbell Grammar School. It later moved to a larger building at the corner of Winchester and Campbell Avenues, with campus structures designed in Spanish mission style during the 1930s.
The campus reflects Spanish mission style architecture built during the 1930s with support from the Works Progress Administration. Today, the Heritage Theater continues to host performances by local groups and student productions from nearby schools.
The site now operates as a community center that is freely accessible and located near downtown Campbell. The Heritage Theater and surrounding areas are open during community center hours, with various public events held regularly throughout the year.
The Heritage Theater hosted approximately 20,000 student performances over its years of operation, making it a significant cultural venue. After the school closed in 1980, the city of Campbell purchased the property in 1985, and the theater reopened after renovations in 2004.
