Federal Correctional Institution, Dublin, Federal prison in Dublin, United States
The Federal Correctional Institution sits within the Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, about 20 miles southeast of Oakland in California. The grounds occupy a section of land surrounded by low hills and open fields used for military exercises.
The prison opened in 1974 and served mixed purposes in its early decades. In 2012, it transitioned to house only women, but authorities relocated all inmates in April 2024 and permanently shut the facility.
The institution provided educational programs including GED preparation, English language courses, computer training, and operated UNICOR programs in textiles and call centers.
The facility sits away from public roads and is no longer accessible since its closure. Visitors should note that the grounds are now part of a military training area.
In April 2024, authorities relocated 605 inmates to other facilities nationwide. This move marked the end of its use as a prison after 50 years of operation.
