Pioneer Stadium, Sports stadium in Hayward, United States.
Pioneer Stadium is a soccer and track-and-field venue on the campus of California State University East Bay in Hayward, California. The field has a synthetic turf surface, and the bleachers run along the eastern side, facing toward the San Francisco Bay.
The stadium opened in 1964 as a basic university sports facility and served the campus for several decades. A major renovation in 2010 brought synthetic turf, a new scoreboard, and updated lighting to the site.
The stadium belongs to California State University East Bay and serves as the home ground for the university's soccer and track teams. On game days, students, athletes, and local families fill the bleachers on the eastern side of the field.
The bleachers are on the eastern side and easy to find, with clear sightlines to the field from most seats. Parking is available close to the venue, which helps for arriving before events start.
The Oakland Roots SC professional soccer club used Pioneer Stadium as their main ground for the 2023 USL Championship season after leaving Laney College. Before that, FC Gold Pride, a professional women's team, had also played here for a time.
