Cayetano Juarez Adobe, Historic adobe residence in Napa, California, United States.
Cayetano Juarez Adobe is a 19th-century earthen building with 3-foot-thick foundation walls, wooden beams, and exposed roof rafters. The structure features a front porch supported by heavy wooden posts and now operates as a restaurant, bakery, and brewery combined within its original walls.
The building was constructed in 1845 by Cayetano Juarez, a Mexican soldier who received the land as a grant from General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo. It stands as a reminder of the rancho era in California before the region underwent significant changes in ownership and control.
The space served as a gathering point where the Juarez family and neighbors came together for celebrations and social events. Traditional Mexican festivities filled the rooms with community life and marked the rhythm of ranch activities.
Today the building welcomes visitors as a restaurant, bakery, and brewery where you can enjoy meals in a historical setting. The spaces are accessible and combine the original 19th-century layout with contemporary food service.
The 2019 restoration returned to traditional methods, using horse manure, mud, hay, and pine needles to rebuild the walls as they were originally made. This effort shows how craftspeople recreated authentic adobe techniques to honor the building's original construction.
