Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay

The Sundial Bridge stretches 66 meters across the Sacramento River, featuring a translucent glass deck and white steel support structure.

Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava designed this pedestrian bridge, which opened to the public on Independence Day in 2004.

The bridge connects sections of the Sacramento River Trail system while serving as a central gathering point for community events throughout the year.

Pedestrians and cyclists can cross the Sacramento River using this bridge, which links the north and south sections of Turtle Bay Exploration Park.

The bridge functions as a working sundial, with its 217-foot pylon casting shadows on a large garden dial to the north.
