Agate Lake, reservoir in Jackson County, Oregon, United States
Agate Lake is a reservoir in Jackson County, approximately 14 miles from Medford. The water body stretches across 216 acres with about three miles of shoreline, surrounded by trees and open areas.
The lake was formed by a dam approximately 86 feet tall that was completed in 1966. This structure collects water from several creeks and has shaped the area as a recreation site since then.
The lake is open year-round from dawn to dusk with free parking available. Visitors should know that only electric-powered boats are permitted and there are no fuel stations or overnight accommodations at the site.
The lake sits within the Agate Desert, an area known for natural minerals, but park rules prohibit collecting minerals or rocks from the grounds. Mount McLoughlin rises in the background, providing a dramatic scenic backdrop when fishing or relaxing by the water.
