Bandon State Natural Area, State natural area in Bandon, Oregon, US.
Bandon State Natural Area is a protected coastal space in Oregon that follows Beach Loop Road with multiple points to reach the shore. Rocky formations and sea stacks rise from the water along this stretch of Pacific coastline, creating a landscape shaped by ocean and stone.
Protection for this area began in 1954 through land acquisitions and a donation from Coos County. This action marked the start of its preservation as a natural space for the future.
The name originates from George Bennett, who settled in 1873 and named the region after his hometown of Bandon in Ireland.
The area stays open year-round with parking available at several locations along Beach Loop Road. Camping is not permitted here to protect the natural environment and wildlife.
Harbor seals regularly rest on the beach here while their mothers hunt in the water. Visitors are asked to keep distance so these animals can rest undisturbed.
