Wildlife Safari, Wildlife park in Winston, Oregon, United States
Wildlife Safari is a drive-through zoo with over 500 animals from different continents spread across 600 acres in natural habitats. The animals are organized in geographical zones that recreate their native regions, from Africa to the Americas.
The site opened in 1972 and carried a different name before changing to its current one in 1974. This change came after a request from a global conservation organization to avoid confusion with its name.
The park serves as a place where visitors learn about endangered species and their protection needs. As people drive through, they encounter breeding initiatives that help maintain animal populations struggling in the wild.
Visitors drive their own vehicles through designated routes and observe animals from various regions in natural settings. The drive takes approximately an hour and a half and can be done at one's own pace.
The facility operates one of the most successful cheetah breeding programs globally and has raised several hundred cubs since opening. This breeding effort has directly contributed to the survival of this threatened cat species.
