Kenton Hotel

The Kenton Hotel is a three-story brick building located at 8303 North Denver Avenue with a prominent red facade and classic commercial style. The structure displays straightforward architectural details with regular window openings and traditional proportions typical of early 1900s commercial design.

The building was constructed in 1909 by Swift Meat Packing Company during Portland's early industrial growth period. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The hotel reflects Portland's north side development from the early 1900s and serves as a focal point in the Kenton commercial area. Its red brick presence and traditional style remain recognizable features that ground the neighborhood's sense of place.

The building is accessible via an elevator, and parking is available off-street near the property. The interior has been restored, making visits comfortable in modern conditions.

The building narrowly escaped demolition in 1990, which prompted its rescue and subsequent restoration work. Original architectural elements were carefully preserved rather than replaced during the renovation process.
