Slocum House, Victorian mansion in Vancouver, United States
The Slocum House features vertical Italianate architecture with ornamental medallions and stands at the southwest corner of Esther Short Park in Vancouver, Washington.
Built in 1867 by Charles W. Slocum, a carpenter from Rhode Island, the house opened its doors on New Year's Day 1878 as one of the finest residences in Washington Territory.
The structure represents the domestic architecture of the 1860s Pacific Northwest and remains the last original house in Vancouver's historic downtown district.
Located near downtown Vancouver, the building previously served as a community theater and event space until 2019, when it ceased accepting new reservations.
The house survived demolition plans in 1965 through community efforts, resulting in its relocation one block away and subsequent restoration requiring 500,000 volunteer hours.
