Stark Street Bridge, Steel truss bridge across Sandy River in Troutdale, Oregon.
Stark Street Bridge is a steel truss structure that crosses the Sandy River in Troutdale. It carries vehicles over the water and connects local roads on both sides of the river.
A wooden crossing at this location failed in 1914, leading to the construction of a replacement. Engineers designed and completed this new steel structure in 1915.
The structure forms part of the Historic Columbia River Highway system, connecting Southeast Stark Street to one of two western entrances of this significant transportation route.
The bridge is open to vehicle traffic and maintained by local authorities. Visitors can use it as they travel through the area and observe it from the crossing.
The bridge combines two different truss types: a ten-panel riveted Pratt camel-back through truss and a five-panel Warren pony truss spanning 77 feet.
