Fred G. Redmon Bridge, Concrete arch bridge in Yakima County, United States

The Fred G. Redmon Bridge is a concrete arch bridge that carries Interstate 82 across Selah Creek, connecting the regions between Yakima and Ellensburg in Washington. It serves as a major passage for vehicles traveling through the central part of the state.

Construction of this bridge began in 1971 as part of a larger infrastructure project to modernize transportation connections in the region. It was named after Fred G. Redmon, a key figure in Washington's transportation development history.

The bridge stands as a testament to Washington's transportation development, named after the first chair of the Washington Highway Commission.

The bridge is easily accessed via Interstate 82 and remains open to vehicle traffic at all times as part of the main highway network. Visitors can observe the structure from several viewpoints along the route if they pull over safely.

When this structure was completed, it was the longest of its kind in the entire United States. This remarkable record stood for a period before other similar bridges were later built.
