Wallace Island Marine Provincial Park, Marine provincial park in Trincomali Channel, British Columbia, Canada.
Wallace Island Marine Provincial Park is a 72-hectare park lying between Salt Spring Island and Galiano Island, with sandy beaches, rocky coves, and small offshore islands scattered around it. The park provides 18 walk-in campsites split across three separate areas positioned at different points on the shoreline.
After World War II, David Conover purchased the island and built Royal Cedar Cottages resort, which operated until the middle of the 1960s before the property changed hands. This early development left marks on the island that visitors can still notice today.
The island carries the legacy of David Conover, a writer who documented his life here through published works that shaped how people understand island living in this region. Visitors can explore the remains and locations connected to his time on these shores.
Access to the park requires a private boat, so planning water transport ahead is essential for any visit. The camping areas at Conover Cove, Chivers Point, and Cabin Bay each have their own landing points from the water.
The southern tip of the island, called Panther Point, takes its name from a merchant ship that struck rocky reefs in 1874 and sank. This shipwreck gave the location its distinctive name and local identity.
