1111 Third Avenue, Office skyscraper in downtown Seattle, United States
1111 Third Avenue is a 34-story office tower in downtown Seattle standing about 454 feet tall with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout. The facade features precast concrete with exposed aggregate surfaces creating a distinctive textured appearance.
The building was completed in 1980 through a collaboration between John Graham and Company and The McKinley Architects. It quickly became one of Seattle's tallest structures when it opened.
The plaza features bronze sculptures by artist Robert Graham, bringing art into the downtown business district.
The building has a six-level underground parking garage for visitors and workers. The main entrance opens onto a plaza area where you can view the sculptures and oriented spaces.
The windows use dual-glazed solar bronze glass that filters sunlight while reducing heat gain inside the building. This approach to energy efficiency was quite advanced for office buildings when completed.
