Holyoke Building, Office building in Downtown Seattle, United States
The Holyoke Building stands as a five-story brick structure with stone trimmings at the intersection of First Avenue and Spring Street in Seattle.
The construction of the building began just before the Great Seattle Fire of 1889, and its excavation site helped contain the spread of flames.
The building contained numerous music studios during the early 1900s and provided space for the Seattle Musical Club during the 1920s.
The structure maintains retail spaces on the ground floor and professional offices on upper levels, connecting to downtown Seattle's business district.
The excavated foundation pit of the Holyoke Building served as a natural firebreak during the Great Seattle Fire of 1889.
