Microsoft Redmond Campus, Corporate building complex in Redmond, United States
Microsoft Redmond Campus is a large corporate complex in Redmond, Washington, covering 502 acres (203 hectares). The site includes 83 buildings with offices, meeting rooms, and research facilities connected by pathways and underground passages.
The company moved its headquarters to this location in February 1986, investing 25 million dollars in the first construction phase. Shortly after, in March of that same year, the corporation began trading its shares publicly.
The company art collection displays pieces across the entire site, including installations from artists based in the Puget Sound region. Many works come from veterans and members of different communities who bring their perspectives into the work environment.
The site offers several cafes, transit hubs, walking paths, and sports fields for visitors and employees. Underground tunnels connect the buildings and allow material transport without using outdoor routes.
The lake on the site carries the name of a co-founder and hosts a group of koi fish. This artificial body of water forms a central point between the work buildings and serves as a quiet area for breaks.
