Death Valley, Desert valley in Mojave Desert, California, United States.

The park encompasses 3.3 million acres of terrain, featuring salt flats, sand dunes, mountains, and multicolored rock formations at elevations from -282 feet to 11,049 feet.

Native Americans of the Timbisha Shoshone tribe have inhabited this region for over a thousand years, adapting their lifestyle to the extreme desert conditions.

During the 1880s, teams of twenty mules transported borax across the desert, establishing an industrial heritage that contributed to American commercial development.

The most comfortable periods to visit Death Valley are from November through March, when daytime temperatures range between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Death Valley holds the record for the highest reliably recorded air temperature on Earth at 130 degrees Fahrenheit, measured at Furnace Creek in 2021.
