Mount Clark rises to an elevation of 11,527 feet within the Clark Range, featuring a prominent needle-like peak made of light-colored granite rock.
Clarence King and James T. Gardiner completed the first recorded ascent of Mount Clark in 1866 during their United States Geological Survey expedition.
The mountain received its name in recognition of Galen Clark, an early explorer who played a fundamental role in establishing Yosemite National Park.
The southeast arête route requires technical climbing skills and appropriate equipment, with the summit approach rated as a class 4 rock climbing challenge.
Obelisk Lake sits at 9,853 feet on the northeast flank of Mount Clark, providing natural water resources for climbers ascending the peak.
