Triple Divide Peak, Mountain summit in Madera County, United States.
Triple Divide Peak is a 12,634 foot summit in the Sierra Nevada located within Kings Canyon National Park. The mountain serves as a divide where three major river systems originate and branch off into different directions.
The first recorded climb to the summit happened in 1920 when mountaineers James Hutchinson and Charles Noble reached the top. Since then the peak has attracted climbers exploring the Sierra Nevada.
The mountain serves as a reference point for climbing enthusiasts who record their ascents, with over 70 documented attempts registered on Peakbagger.
The peak is accessible from July through October via different routes including the East Ridge, North Face and West Ridge paths. Visitors should be prepared for alpine conditions and need solid climbing experience.
The mountain's location is striking because three major river systems - the Kern, South San Joaquin and Kaweah basins - all originate from this water divide. This hydrological feature gives the peak significance beyond its elevation.
