Lee Canyon

Lee Canyon is a canyon in the Spring Mountains that cuts through the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest with towering rock walls and dramatic natural formations. The terrain rises to significant elevation and offers multiple landscape features throughout its length.

The area drew winter sports enthusiasts in the 1930s who recognized its potential for skiing on north-facing slopes. By the 1940s, organized recreation began when the Las Vegas Ski Club developed early infrastructure for winter activities.

The Las Vegas Ski Club initiated the first organized winter activities in the 1940s by installing a rope tow and constructing a warming hut.

Visitors reach the canyon via Lee Canyon Road, which connects to US Route 95 from the valley floor. The area features multiple entry points to campsites and trails for various outdoor activities.

The location receives substantial snowfall during winter months compared to nearby desert regions. This consistent snow cover allows winter activities to operate reliably throughout the season.
