La Madre Mountains Wilderness, Nature reserve in Clark County, Nevada.
The La Madre Mountains extend across 47,180 acres, featuring limestone cliffs, canyons, and peaks reaching elevations between 3,000 and 8,600 feet.
The Bureau of Land Management and US Forest Service designated this area as protected wilderness in 2002 through the Las Vegas Valley Public Lands Act.
Native American tribes left evidence of their presence through rock art panels and stone tools scattered throughout the mountain ranges.
Visitors need to bring sufficient water supplies and navigation tools, as the wilderness area contains no developed facilities or marked trails.
The Keystone Thrust Fault displays older gray limestone layers positioned directly over younger red sandstone formations, creating distinct geological patterns.
