In 2006, it relocated from its historic site near the Salt Lake Temple to a modern downtown building to improve accessibility and support its mission of practical workforce training.
Ensign College takes its name from Ensign Peak, a hill near Salt Lake City where early settlers raised a flag when they arrived in 1847. The school is affiliated with the LDS Church and while many students are members, people of all backgrounds are welcome, and the institution emphasizes values of respect, kindness, and service to others.
The school offers evening and online classes, allowing students who work or have families to study with flexibility. Located in a central downtown area with nearby shops, restaurants, and parks, the staff helps guide students through their choices and supports them throughout their studies.
Notable alumni including George W. Romney and Gordon B. Hinckley emerged from this institution and went on to significant careers in politics and church leadership. Strong connections with local businesses help graduates find job opportunities and launch their careers after completing their studies.
