Teec Nos Pos is located in northeastern Arizona at an elevation of approximately 1,600 meters, surrounded by desert landscapes with characteristic high plateaus of the region. The community has a post office and school facilities, including the T'iis Nazbas Community School operated by the Bureau of Indian Education.
The original settlement at Tisnasbas was moved north in 1915, with the community relocating to the junction of U.S. Highways 160 and 64. This relocation marked the start of a new settlement phase in this strategic location.
The name comes from the Navajo language and means 'the place where the water springs,' reflecting how water shaped daily life and settlements here.

Two concrete diversion dams were built on T'iisnazbas Creek in the 1930s, enabling irrigation of approximately 400 acres of Navajo farmland. These structures represent early engineering efforts to manage water in this arid region.
