Old St. Joseph Hospital, Medical historic building in Albuquerque, United States
The four-story Romanesque Revival structure features a Y-shaped layout constructed with concrete and brown brick at 715 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue NE.
Built between 1929 and 1930, the hospital was designed by architect William Miles Brittelle Sr. and operated by the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati.
The hospital building received recognition on both the National Register of Historic Places and New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1982.
The medical facility contained four operating rooms on the fourth floor, an emergency operating room on the ground level, and New Mexico's first baby incubator.
The building included a specialized penthouse for x-ray film storage, implemented as a safety measure following the Cleveland Clinic fire of 1929.
