Santuario de Guadalupe, Catholic church in Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States
Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church stands as a working adobe house of worship on Agua Fria Street, featuring traditional vigas, corbels, and a choir loft repurposed from an earlier military chapel.
Built between 1776 and 1796, this cruciform adobe structure is the oldest standing shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe in the United States, reflecting over two centuries of continuous religious use.
The shrine honors the Virgin of Guadalupe, a central figure in Hispanic Catholic devotion, and hosts an annual feast day celebration on December 12th that draws attendees from across the region.
The church is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and visitors can find it at the eastern end of Agua Fria Street in the 87501 postal code area.
A 12-foot tall bronze statue of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, created by Mexican artist Doña Georgina Farias in 2008, stands outside the church as a prominent marker along the historic El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro route.
