UFO Watchtower

The UFO Watchtower is an observation platform in Hooper in Colorado's San Luis Valley. The 620-acre property includes a 10-foot-high viewing structure, camping facilities, and a gift shop situated at an elevation of about 7,600 feet.

A former cattle rancher opened this observation site in 2000 after receiving county approval to convert her livestock property into a public attraction. The project grew from a personal interest in unexplained aerial events regularly reported across the region.

The healing garden near the gift shop contains three designated areas where visitors place personal objects based on local beliefs about energy fields.

The platform is best accessed during clear skies and evening hours when observations typically occur. Visitors should bring warm clothing since the elevation and open location can be quite cool.

The site maintains a logbook of reports from visitors and locals about aerial events, containing hundreds of entries. Most accounts describe unusual lights and movement patterns that seem to occur more frequently in this valley than elsewhere.
