Mee Canyon

Mee Canyon is a gorge in the Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness with steep red rock cliffs that drop toward the Colorado River. The walls display visible layers of Wingate Sandstone in shades of red and orange.

The Bureau of Land Management designated this area as part of the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area to protect its natural formations. This protection was established to preserve the geological features for future generations.

The remote setting draws people who come to experience red rock walls and study the exposed layers of stone. Visitors move through the space to observe natural arches and patterns carved into the cliffs.

The hiking route is roughly 10 kilometers long and involves navigating narrow passages, loose metal rungs, and multiple rock scrambling sections. Sturdy footwear and experience with rocky terrain are important for completing this challenging route.

Deep within the gorge lies a massive cavern created by water erosion that impresses visitors with its size and scale. The cavern demonstrates how water shapes rock over countless centuries, creating these remarkable chambers.
