Ameristar Black Hawk, casino and hotel in Colorado

Ameristar Black Hawk is a hotel and casino in the mountain town of Black Hawk, Colorado. The building holds multiple restaurants, bars, a spa, and guest rooms that look out over the surrounding mountain terrain.

Black Hawk grew in the 19th century as a mining town during Colorado's gold rush and became a center for ore processing. After mining declined, the legalization of gaming in the early 1990s brought the town back to life.

The name Black Hawk refers to the town itself, which owes its identity to the gold and silver rush of the 19th century. The public areas of the property carry design touches that reference this local past, mixing it with the feel of a modern gaming resort.

The hotel sits in Black Hawk, about an hour's drive from Denver along a winding mountain road. For those without a car, a regular bus service connects Denver to Black Hawk throughout the day.

Black Hawk sits at around 8,500 feet (about 2,600 meters) in a narrow rock canyon, making it one of the highest gaming towns in the United States. This elevation can affect some visitors physically, so it is worth taking time to adjust on arrival before exploring.
