Crystal Valley Cemetery extends across a sloping terrain with green sandstone walls, gardens of irises, and streets lined with conifers and silver maples.
The cemetery, established in 1882 by Dr. Isaac Davis, became the main burial ground after relocating graves from the original town cemetery on Pawnee Avenue.
The cemetery features Egyptian Revival architecture, Victorian-era monuments, and cast iron grave fences, reflecting burial practices of the late 19th century.
The cemetery opens from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm during summer weekdays and 8 am to 5 pm in winter, with weekend access through the police department.
Theresa Kenny constructed her own mausoleum in the 1930s and spent time sitting in a rocking chair next to her future resting place.
