Fort Morgan, County seat in eastern Colorado, United States
Fort Morgan is a city on the eastern plains of Colorado surrounded by farmland and ranching areas. The town sits at about 4250 feet (1300 meters) elevation and developed around a former military post.
A military fort was established in 1865 as Camp Wardwell along the Overland Trail to protect travelers, and closed in 1868. The settlement then grew into an agricultural center.
The local museum displays objects and stories about Native American life and how farming shaped the region over time. Exhibits show the connection between the land and the communities who made their living from it.
The city has parks and outdoor spaces for walking and exploring the area. Riverside Park offers nature trails, while a golf course nearby provides additional recreation options.
A distinctive arch bridge spans the Platte River north of town, built in the early 1900s using engineering techniques of that era. The Rainbow Arch Bridge shows how builders solved design challenges across the river.
