Antlers Guard Station

Antlers Guard Station is a rustic wooden cabin in Baker County that originally served as lodging for forest rangers. The building has two rooms and was constructed to meet the needs of forest protection crews working in the area.

The cabin was built in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps to house forest fire crews in a remote area. The project was part of a larger effort to protect and manage the region's forests.

The station shows how forest protection and land management looked in early Oregon and how people lived in remote locations. Visitors can see how rangers carried out their daily duties protecting the forest.

The cabin can be rented by visitors and is reached via a forest road that requires good weather conditions. Planning ahead is necessary since access can be limited during certain times.

The cabin stands near the abandoned town of Whitney and is one of the few livable remnants from that era. Staying here gives visitors a sense of the isolation and quiet that forest workers experienced daily.
