Wenaha–Tucannon Wilderness, Nature reserve in Asotin County, United States.

Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness is a protected nature reserve covering over 100,000 acres of mountainous terrain in the Blue Mountains. Deep canyons carved by rivers cut through what was once a plateau, creating dramatic topography across the landscape.

Congress officially protected this area in 1984 as a designated wilderness. The decision aimed to preserve the natural landscape and ecological systems for the future.

American Indian tribes traditionally hunted and fished in this area before it became protected land. Their connection to these mountains remains part of local heritage.

Multiple trailheads like Three Forks, Godman, and Troy provide access to about 200 miles of hiking routes throughout the area. Summer is the best time to visit, as snow melts and trails become easily passable.

Elevation in the area ranges from around 2,000 feet at Wenaha River to over 6,400 feet at Oregon Butte. This dramatic change in altitude creates distinct forest zones, with ponderosa pine in lower areas and subalpine fir at higher elevations.
