Parks Peak, Mountain summit in Blaine County, Idaho, United States
Parks Peak is a mountain summit in the Central Salmon River Mountains that rises to 8,833 feet. The peak overlooks multiple valleys and water drainages spreading out below in different directions.
A fire observation station operated at the summit from 1930 to 1952 and monitored forest conditions across Blaine County. The station was part of a wider network tracking forest fires throughout the region.
The peak serves as a reference point for outdoor activities in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, drawing climbers and hikers throughout the year.
Access to the peak follows a maintained trail from the East Fork South Fork Salmon River, with parking available at the Tin Cup Trailhead. The route is well marked and offers several access options depending on your preferred approach.
The peak forms a natural divide between Yellow Belly Lake and Pettit Lake, creating separate water drainage systems on each side. This geographical position allows hikers to approach from different starting points around each lake.
