Lone Pine State Park

Lone Pine State Park is a conservation area in Flathead County that spreads across several hundred acres and offers views of the valley and lake. The land features various trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and snowshoeing through rolling terrain.

The park came into being in the 1940s after a local family transferred their sheep ranch property to the state with special conditions. This gift was tied to the requirement that the place become a center for environmental education.

The visitor center offers classes about regional wildlife and forest ecology that draw people of various ages. On site, visitors can learn which bird species live in this part of Montana.

The trails are well marked and divided into different difficulty levels, so both beginners and experienced hikers find suitable options. The best time to visit is in early summer and fall, when the weather is more stable.

The park operates a special archery area with ten shooting stations where people with limited mobility can practice using specialized equipment. This setup lets many visitors enjoy outdoor activities that would otherwise be difficult for them.
