Canmore Nordic Centre, Olympic winter sports stadium in Canmore, Canada
The Canmore Nordic Centre is a sports facility in Alberta featuring 65 kilometres of groomed trails for cross-country skiing and biathlon situated at the base of Mount Rundle. The courses sit at 604 metres elevation and blend natural and machine-made snow routes.
The facility was built for the 1988 Winter Olympics and has remained an active Olympic venue since then. It subsequently hosted the 1991 Winter Deaflympics competition.
The centre serves as a training ground where Canadian national biathlon and cross-country ski teams prepare and refine their skills regularly. It is a place where visitors can observe the dedicated work of elite athletes in action.
The Day Lodge offers equipment rentals, a cafe, lockers and showers for day visits. The elevation and snow conditions allow winter sports access throughout most of the year.
The facility operates its own snow production system to supplement natural conditions and ensure a reliable season. This technical setup makes the centre independent from weather variations.
