Fifth Avenue Place, Office skyscraper in Downtown Calgary, Canada
Fifth Avenue Place is an office complex in downtown Calgary consisting of two 35-floor towers that reach 133 meters in height and are arranged in an L-shaped configuration. The towers are connected by a two-level shopping gallery and the Plus 15 skywalk system, which allows pedestrians to move between the buildings and access neighboring structures.
The complex was built in 1981 during Calgary's period of economic growth and was originally named Esso Plaza. It was later renamed Fifth Avenue Place as the city continued its commercial development.
The building design incorporates modernist architecture principles with curtain walls and alternating glass panels that reflect the commercial growth of Alberta's largest city.
The complex includes a three-level underground parking facility with space for 793 vehicles, making it accessible for those arriving by car. The Plus 15 skywalk system allows visitors to explore the area and access neighboring buildings even during bad weather.
The two towers are oriented in different directions: the West Tower runs east-west while the East Tower runs north-south. This unusual arrangement was designed to fit the site's boundaries perfectly between 4th and 5th Avenue South.
