Showdown Ski Area, Ski resort in Little Belt Mountains, Montana, United States
Showdown Ski Area is a ski resort in the Little Belt Mountains offering 640 acres of terrain with 39 runs across all skill levels. Four lift systems provide access throughout the mountain for skiers of every ability.
The area was established in 1936 as King's Hill Ski Area and received its first rope tow in 1940 through a donation from businessman Charlie Bovey. It was renamed Showdown in 1973.
The name Showdown, adopted in 1973, reflects the challenge between skiers and the mountain's steep slopes. Visitors experience this contest directly as they navigate the terrain throughout the day.
The resort opens Wednesday through Sunday from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with extended hours on holiday Mondays during winter. Visitors should prepare for changing mountain conditions and bring appropriate gear for the season.
The Prospector Chairlift, installed in 1970, was the longest chair ride of its time at this location. This historic lift continues to offer rides with that distinctive legacy today.
