Four First Nations bands of the Touchwood Agency Tribal Chiefs maintain their presence and territories in this region. Their traditional connection to the land remains visible in how the area is used and valued today.
The area is accessible via Highway 35 running north-south and Highway 15 crossing east-west, making it easy to navigate between the two main hill sections. Both routes provide clear access points for exploring the region.
Multiple rivers originate from these hills, including East Loon Creek, Jumping Deer Creek, and Pearl Creek, which flow toward the Qu'Appelle Valley. These water systems are vital to the region's hydrology and ecosystems.
