Khutzeymateen Inlet, Protected inlet in British Columbia, Canada

The waters of Khutzeymateen Inlet extend through steep mountain valleys, creating a natural corridor for marine life and terrestrial animals.

Officers James Johnstone and Robert Barrie first documented the inlet in 1793 during George Vancouver's exploration of the Pacific Northwest coast.

The Coast Tsimshian peoples maintain their traditional practices of fishing, hunting, and plant gathering throughout the inlet's diverse ecosystems.

Access to Khutzeymateen Inlet requires boat transportation, and visitors must register at the K'tzim-a-deen Ranger Station before entering the area.

The inlet forms part of Canada's first sanctuary specifically created to protect grizzly bears, with over 50 bears frequenting its shores.
