Commerce Place, Postmodern skyscraper in Edmonton, Canada.
Commerce Place is a postmodern office tower in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, standing 125 meters tall. Built with glass and steel, it connects to the neighboring Manulife Place through a covered indoor walkway.
The tower was completed in 1990, during a period when Edmonton's downtown was expanding with new commercial buildings. It was among the towers that helped shape the current skyline of the city center.
Commerce Place houses the Edmonton Italian Consular Post, which handles official services for people in the Alberta region. Visitors passing through the lobby may notice the mix of office workers and people arriving for consular appointments.
The tower sits in the heart of downtown Edmonton, within easy reach of public transit. The covered walkway connecting it to nearby buildings makes it possible to move around the surrounding area without going outside, which is handy in winter.
During renovations in 2023, the building introduced a Dynamic Model Office, a flexible space where tenants can test new office layouts before committing to a full fit-out. This kind of setup is unusual for a tower that has been standing for over 30 years.
